Life of the Heroes

I found this creative piece I wrote in my sock drawer. I'm fairly sure I wrote it at the end of 2002, which would make me barely 10 years old. It is honestly so terrible that it's hilarious - though it's entirely possible that it was intended to be comedy when I wrote it. I think I may have just trolled myself. It does, in any case give an unparalleled insight into my childhood mindset. Also, the chapters are so short because it was originally written in size 20 font. This was originally 13 pages, enjoy!

Chapter 1 - About Heroes

There are a lot of heroes that we see everyday in comic books, on the TV, in computer games or in fairytales. Have you ever stopped to think about those 'heroes' who come to rescue the damsel in distress or to fight the super villains. Well my friend, this is not a regular hero. Heroes are not like Superman or Batman or Wonder Woman, I hate to say it to you champ but superheroes are pretend.

Real heroes are the peole who go to war, the people who stop bad things happening. (Not like fighting evil villains who try to melt the world with laser beams etc.) For instance, helping police or being police, saving livs as a doctor or nurse. Or saving homes (or people) as a fire fighter.

You see, heroes are found in everyday places mostly. This however was not the case with Gordon and Kate.

Chapter 2 - Gordon & Kate

Gordon & Kate were 2 secret agents for the Australian C.I.A (Central Information Australia). They were the best two agents that they had. Gordon was a short man, about 157cm (5 foot 1 inch). He was very healthy and weighed only 60kg (132lbs). Kate on the other hand, weighed 58kg (128lbs) and was also 157cm tall (5 foot 1 inch).

They were full of agility.

Chapter 3 - Their path to where they are.

Gordon and Kate are actually related. How? You ask me. They are not brother and sister. They are cousins.

Gordon's mum died of unnatural causes. You guessed it, murder! Gordon, ever since 5/4/97 (the day of his mother's death), he has devoted his life to trying to make sure that it never happens to anyone else ever again.

Kate, she had never actually met Gordon before this incident happened. Although, she had her aunt die as well 1 month after Gordon's ah, incident. Kate and Gordon, as soon as they turned 18, they went to the recruiting office for the Australian C.I.A. Each needed to score at least 70% in the tests in both mental and physical ability. They had worked hard for this day and were not going there just to avenge their mothers' deaths, except to know that they can make a difference.

Chapter 4 - The Test

The test involved many different things in which made them think otherwise about trying to be secret agents.

They had to be able to run 100m in 18 seconds to get 50% and do it in 15 seconds or under to get 100% and anything over 20 seconds and you score 0!

They had to be able to have at least 90% on your H.S.C and anyone who didn't may as well kiss their careers goodbye.

They had to be able to climb, run, jump, duck, have quick reflexes; get out of thinking situations and everything. That test was hard!

Chapter 5 - The Result

The day that the results came back, Gordon and Kate had to get Joey to open it. Joey was their pet monkey who could talk. He opened it and hung his head. Gordon and Kate didn't even want to know. Then Joey lifted up his head, gave a big grinning smile and yelled at the top of his lungs to say, "You got 98%! A new record." Gordon and Kate danced around the room and packed their bags. They would be going off to the conservatorium to get the knowledge they need to qualify for university.

Gordon and Kate were ecstatic and couldn't wait to go there. The test was in 2 weeks and they would not miss it for the world. They couldn't sleep for days. They would just stay up and watch action movies all night and sleep of a day because they couldn't of a night. Then came that fateful day.

Chapter 6 - The Train

Gordon and Kate were so excited. They had been waiting for this day for weeks. They couldn't wait to board the train to go to the conservatorium of spies and secret agents. Now they could be taught how to get in and out of situatons quickly like the need to now.

The train had gone off rails and was about to crash into something for sure. The future agents had to think of something or they may not become agents at all. Kate suggested they open the emergency exit to save themselves but Gordon wanted to save the passengers in which there were 20 of them. (Gordon, Kate, the driver and 17 other passengers). Kate opened the emergency exit whilst Gordon headed for the front of the train. Gordon quickly put his foot on the brakes but nothing happened. The driver was unconscious so Gordon had to think fast because he couldn't carry him. Part of Kate and Gordon's future job was to help save people and saving only themselves was not what the C.I.A had in mind.

Gordon pushed the multiple eject button and 50 seats went flying into the air and a parachute came out the backs of everyone of them. The train was broken but the radio still worked though. Gordon and Kate went to the radio to contact for help. 20 minutes later, a helicopter came to save them from starvation and malaria (there were a lot of mosquitos there too).

Chapter 7 - The Conservatorium

Gordon and Kate ended up making it to the conservatorium of spies and secret agents. They had the exams and they needed to get 95% this time so they did not have to improve, only not get worse. Kate decided to do the physical ability first and then the exam. Gordon scored 98.72% and Kate scored 98.63% in the year at the conservatorium of spies and secret agents. They were very pleased with themselves and now have qualified to go to university. When you get your degree in spies and secret agents, you get to work for the C.I.A.

Chapter 8 - Waiting for university.

Gordon and Kate were very happy and were over the moon. They would go to the univesity of spies and secret agents in 3 weeks. They would even get a free black Porsche and a black leather suit with a bow tie. This would be their uniform. They were even happier and would celebrate with a party and by pouring hundreds of dollars worth of flowers on their mothers' graves.

Chapter 9 - University

Gordon and Kate were now on their way to the university of spies and secret agents. They went in their black porches to the university. They had a lot of fun there athough they did need 99.5% to get their degree! They also worked hard for three yars being taught things and having tests. The results came home a week after the year had finished. Joey opened it again. He dropped it out of his hands and ran, crying to his room. Kate picked it up and read every last wrod of it.

Kate and Gordon had both gotten 99.8% except they had to move into the C.I.A. Joey is also an agent now.

Chapter 10 - Mission Briefing

Gordon, Kate and Joey were going to the briefing room after just moving into C.I.A. hotel. Gordon, Kate and Joey would also betrying toget their first mission. They hoped they could have the mission on some terrorists or something. They arrived at the briefing room to get thermission. "Your mission is clear as crystal I hope to you new agents. You names are Gordon, Kat and Joey right?"

"Yes sir, we just passes by 0.3% in the course and we want to help save other sir!" Gordon, Kate and Joey got their briefing and headed off to the submarine area.

Chapter 11 - Mission

Gordon and Kate decided to leave Joey at home to play with bananas and trash the C.I.A hotel but if they could do this mission, they could go to the 'Veterans' area with spas.

Gordon and Kate would have to try to stop this terrorist group from Afghanistan before they attempt to do something more dangerous than September 11 or October 12, 2001 & 2002. They would have to be careful to survive though. The C.I.A would normally send a Veteran or an Eite Mercenary to do this kind of job but the sent Gordon and Kate instead. Two Greens.

Veteran or if they do a really good job, they could even become Elite. They organization had only 3 Elite Mercenaries. These 3 were compared with the best from America and had saved us in 34 missions! Two saved us in 10 but the other 14.

Gordon and Kate would have a tough task against them to try and stop the incident, which will supposedly take place. In three days it would be November the 13th 2003.

If you look carefully at September 11th, October 12th and November 13th. Years 2001, 2002 and 2003, you'll notice that they are all one year, one month and 1 day apart. In 2004 it could be either December 13th or 14th because it is a leap year. Gordon and Kate are having a big sleep now that they know that they must face certain difficult tasks tomorrow.

The next day, Gordon and Kate had a wash and had some breakfast. They soon left for work, as an Australian C.I.A agent. Kate prepared some bacon whilst Gordon smashed the eggs. In ten minutes flat they had a hard earned meal. Gordon and Kate enjoyed this meal because it could possibly be their last. They got into the Mercedes and drove to 'work'. Their porsche got broken. Gordon drove and Kate brought some bacon to share with the partners at work.

Chapter 12 - The Incident

Gordon and Kate were just arriving at work when they smelled something very corny. Kate shoved Gordon over and hit the ground, "SMOKE BOMB!" she yelled. They covered their mouths and crawled into the building. Everyone was shocked to se two greens blue in the face with the sounds of gas outside. One guy asked, "What happened?" They collapsed on the cold, hard floor and one of the workers called for help.

Gordon woke up with bright lights glaring in their face. They were as bright as the time Gordon's mum took them for a walk before she was murdered and forgot to put their sunglasses on. He could barely see for a week. Gordon was much older by this time and it didn't seem to affect him as much now probably because he was 22.5 years old. It still glared enough to make his eyes squint in the light. In that same minute, the light was taken out of his face and a small man who looked about five foot six (167.64cm) approached him. He thought he saw Kate in the background except it was hard to tell though. The small man said, "You suffered major concussion and lung damage but you'll be ok in about a week."

"A WEEK!" Kate replied. "We need to be in Afghanistan today!"

"I'm sorry" said the doctor "but orders are orders."

Kate couldn't beleive this but they had to stay. Unless...

Chapter 13 - Escaping

Gordon was in lots of pain and they were taken off duty for a week. Kate was furious but there was nothing she could do to stop it. They would just have to watch some Elites or a group of Veterans handle the matter.

Gordon got out of the hostpital bed and looked fitter than ever, although it was too late to go now. They would have already sent the other 'reinforcements' to handle everything. They could not believe their luck one little bit. Gordon scrambled back to the bed when they heard footsteps heading towards them. The doctor came in, he walked over to the air conditioner and turned it on low. Air so cold and fresh like the light morning wind at the hotel came in and spread itstelf around the room like a jar of honey. Kate had an idea.

They would wait until the doctor left the room and they could crawl out the vents. Guards would be at every corner and Gordon was unauthorised to be anywhere but in that hospital bed. Kate helped Gordon out of bed and they snuck to the vent. First they turned it off and gently opened the thing on the end. Kate went through first and then helped Gordon in. The doctor came back in just in time to catch them trying to sneak away and just caught a glimpse of Gordon's legs going in. The doctor ran out the door and called for security!

Gordon and Kate would be caught and fined $25000 now but they had already made it past half way. They just kept on going and then stopped at a dark intersection. They looked at one side and saw nothing but pitch black and then checked the other one. They saw a little light at the end so they decided to go that way.

As they headed off down the track, they were feeling some heat in one area on their forehead. It was as thugh someone was pointing a laser at Gordon and Kate's heads on low. They just ignored it though. As they continued down it seemed to get hotter and hotter as they progressed. Eventually, the couldn't even continue. They looked down the long alleyway and noticed embers flying. Embers?

Gordon and Kate couldn't understand what it was but they knew that that wasn't the light of day that was the heater! They scurried back to the intersection and stopped. They decdied then to go the other way. They hurried and once they got about half way down they could see strands of light.

They headed onwards and they got closer but it was not heater hot this time, it was day hot, which felt about 32 degrees Centigrade.

Once they got to the end they were under siege trying to escape. They got to the end but it was artificial light in which they were seeing.

Chapter 14 - Getting to Afghanistan

Gordon and Kate crawled out of the air vent being on the alert. It was hard to climb back to the ground when Gordon put his back out and Kate had to be careful to help.

When they got back to the ground, they were still in the C.I.A building, which is where they wanted to be. Unfortunately, they wanted to be closer to the dispatching area. They would have to be fast because the government wouldn't be happy with them. They could possibly be fired! Kate checked around the corners every time they turned while Gordon found a wheelchair to sit in. They travelled right around and started to get a bit suspicious about there being no guards all. It was as though they wanted them to go to Afghanistan.

They took the supposed bait and got to the dispatching area. They slowly boarded and closed the door with relief. They then took the submarine to the airport.

When they arrived at the loading bay, they were satisfied to be there. Gordon was feeling ok by now and they would be leaving in an hour. While they waited, they looked at the new 'toys' used for taking out terrorists. There was a pacer HB pencil, which was actually a mini nuclear bomb! They also had lipstick that had enough cyanide in it to kill a grown up male African elephant that could be between 4700kg (10362lbs) and 6050kg (13338lbs). They had a full kit of things worthy to use against terrorists at their own game.

They went and had a latte and went about their business until the plane arrived. When the plane came they felt a bit insecure about hopping on but they did.

Gordon and Kate were on the plane but this person on the plane with a bg moustache and beard kept on anoying Gordon. He felt in danger with him on because he looked like one of the men from the news in the Taliban. He looked at the picture he was given and sure enough, he saw in the background, was him!

Gordon was frozen in fear but he did have enough energy to pull his gun out of his front pocket and aim it at the man. He pulled himself up and with a big low and roaring voice he yelled, "You're under arrest for terrorism." Everyone was shocked and one boy even yelled out, "Where's the popcorn?" Kate sat up and pulled out her pistol and covered the plane. He was the only one.

They called the police to grab him at the next airport the plane passes in an allied country with Australia. When the plane got to Afghanistan, they got out nice and slowly making sure that nobody could come to hold them hostage. The Taliban are liable to attempt to have the world back off at the sake of two Australian C.I.A agents. They had to be careful. Joey was also in Afghanistan now.

Unfortunately that's all I wrote before I got sidetracked (probably with Star Wars action figures). If the ending isn't satifying enough, then add this to the end "Joey killed all the bad guys and they were allowed to go to the veteran area with spas. Their mums were alive again and Joey ate bananas. The C.I.A told them it was all a test and then they woke up because it was a dream the end."
