How to Use
- Install a torrent download manager, such as µTorrent or Vuse
- Enter a search term or keywords
- Click "Search"
- Click the file you want to download
Reading Results
Each search result has a blue title, as well as five pieces of information about the torrent. From left to right, these are:
- The username of the person/group that uploaded the torrent
- The date it was created
- The size of all the files in the torrent combined
- The number of seeders - people who have already downloaded the file and are sharing/uploading it to others. The more of these, the faster the speed and higher the probability that the torrent is real.
- The number of leechers - people who are currently downloading the torrent. If there are a lot of these, download speeds might be slow until they finish and become seeders.
Legal Info
- Torrent files are not illegal - torrents are merely a way to transfer large amounts of data online and have many practical, legitimate uses
- Torrent programs (µTorrent, vuse, bittorrent etc) are not illegal
- Search engines are not illegal - obviously, but you can use Google to find illegal torrent files if you use the right filters
- Torrent files that contain copyrighted content are illegal to distribute and use in almost all countries
Therefore, this search engine is not illegal - it aggregates results from legal websites and search engines that can be accessed elsewhere on the web. Also, Meercat9.com does not host any of the torrent files (so there is a 0% chance that we inadvertently have illegal files on the server) and does not condone the use of piracy through the use of torrents.
The use and existence of this basic search engine are legal, but downloading results may not be depending on the search terms. If you use this application for anything that is against the law of your particular area, we will not be liable for any consequences that may arise.
